The Healthcare Management Association (HMA) continued its mission to equip healthcare leaders with timely, real-world insights at the June Member Meeting. This month's session stepped away from billing codes and compliance checklists to focus on something just as critical—keeping your practice, staff, and patients safe in the face of in-office threats.
Officer Daniel Holland from the Maitland Police Department's Community Policing Unit led an engaging and highly practical training session titled "Realistic De-Escalation and Active Assailant Response." Attendees learned how to boost situational awareness, respond to angry or disruptive individuals, and apply real-world de-escalation tactics that can make all the difference in tense moments.
Designed specifically for healthcare professionals, this police-led training emphasized preparedness without panic. From identifying early warning signs to reacting appropriately under pressure, Officer Holland gave attendees tools they could take back and share with their teams immediately.
Thank you to everyone who joined us for this critical training. We look forward to seeing you at the next meeting in the fall for another valuable discussion.
Stay safe, stay aware, and stay connected with HMA!
